Citrix Services

Overview

About 100 million users worldwide use application virtualization and Citrix is in fact considered as a standard in application virtualization. Applications are virtualized to enhance the portability and manageability by separating it from the underlying operating system and managing it at runtime mode. By virtualizing an application, the IT team can manage a single instance of application which is delivered through application streaming to multiple application servers or numerous end user workstations. Citrix’s XenApp ensures users witness a better experience through Citrix’s HDX technology. HDX adapts application delivery and access based on each user’s available individual technology resources for optimal experience.

With Citrix Receiver - a lightweight Citrix Client application installed at each user terminal or workstations, any Windows based application can be delivered to the users through Application virtualization and centralized management. The Citrix Client application gives access to the application from the users’ desktop machines either through direct access or through a web browser. This receiver application can deliver Windows based application to over 30 different operating systems from Windows, MacOS, Linux and any legacy DOS based or UNIX variants.

Citrix’s XenApp by native design is secured and scalable for application delivery making it one of the most preferred tool for application delivery and management for any size of businesses. Its inbuilt tools allows you to measure and monitor performance to meet corporate service levels and security requirements.

High Availability

With few servers, application can be delivered to a large number of customers utilizing Citrix’s Load Balancing (LB) feature. This technology distributes client requests sent to system across multiple servers for optimal resource utilization. Typically servers exhibit a degraded performance when swarmed with Client requests. The application servers configured for Load Balancing routes Client requests between the servers depending on the load balancing criteria and employing a range of algorithms to provide optimal user experience to all connected users. The LB feature provides load balancing from Layer 4 (TCP/UDP) to Layer 7 (HTTPS/HTTP/FTP).

While deploying enterprise’s mission critical application on a centralized architecture, application availability factors during operating hours plays a crucial role. By incorporating high availability software to the solution, you can lower downtimes arising due to common sources of downtime.
